1,681 Tonnes Mix Rations in 24 hours
SILOKING sets a unique world record
The SILOKING Self-Propelled Feed Mixer System 1000plus completed a 24 hour endurance field test, completing 1,681 tonnes of mix rations, consisting of 65% maize silage and 35% grass and whole crop silage. The feed was taken from the silage stock by the SILOKING Self-Propelled Feed Mixer with 30m³ mixing volume at the Sailer biogas plant in Haus near Tengling in Upper Bavaria. It was precision mixed and after being deposited on the ground returned to the silo.
This unique world record entitled “SILOKING 24 hour Challenge” was an initiative of the SILOKING teams in Product Development, Production, Service and Sales. The challenge was met with a crew of 21 plus additional helpers.
Ulrich Hufnagel, Product Manager Self- propelled mixers confirms the performance of the SILOKING System: “The original aim was to produce one thousand tons of mix rations, and despite difficult weather conditions with the onset of rain we achieved that in just 14 hours and fiveteen minutes.” Hufnagel added: “All the performance data of the machine were logged precisely and will assist Research and Development for new technology.”
The SILOKING Self-Propelled Feed Mixer System 1000plus was launched at the Agritechnica exhibition in Hanover in November 2009 as the first self-propelled feed mixer with 3 vertical augers and 200kW/272hp power. This means the mixer unit and the loading capacities are perfectly matched. The three axle Dyna-Power-Chassis steers with the front and rear axles, making it extremely manoeuvrable. This speeds up silo movements remarkably and increases safety on and off road.
Johannes Sailer explains his commitment to the record attempt: “Since we started preparing feed for the biogas plant using the SILOKING Self-Propelled Feed Mixer System, our gas yield has increased. We mixed a stock of feed at Christmas and that has worked perfectly.”
